Heli Hike Options
For the best way to explore Glacier country, combine a scenic helicopter flight with a guided half day or full day walk on the Franz Josef or Fox Glacier. A fantastic way to experience the enthralling world of ice as you traverse the glacial terrain with your guide, discovering crevasses, ice caves, and spectacular ice formations.
Option 1 Heli–Hike
Take off from either Franz Josef or Fox townships on a 10 minute return helicopter flight to the Franz or Fox Glacier ice fall, land on the glacier and enjoy a two hour walk with your professional, experienced guide. All equipment provided — glacier boots, socks, ice crampons, an ice axe and waterproof jacket.

Option 2 Heli Then Hike Combo
Choose your scenic overflight - either GLACIER TEMPTATION, ACROSS MIDDLE EARTH or MOUNT COOK PANORAMA flights and add on a separate half day or full day guided glacier walk of your choice. This best value option allows you to fly further, discovering more alps, glaciers and scenic variety with the option of spending less.
Your heli-flight departs from and returns to our Whataroa helipad and then you drive to Franz Josef or Fox Glacier for your separate half day or full day guided glacier walk. All equipment provided.
